Since 2023 the VSV has made more explicit efforts to improve her sustainability as a society. This started with a working group which created a sustainability policy and founded the Sustainability Action Force in September 2024.
This action force was founded to enforce the sustainability policy, keep it up to date and help answer questions about sustainability within the society.
Composition
Ideally it consists of 6 members: 1 QQ (current board) 2 Senators 3 Members of varying years
These members can give up or take up position in the SAF during any time of the year (ideally with some warning in advance to look for a new member of course) and don't necessarily have to follow the committee interest moments. Currently the 5 functions are: Chair, Secretary, Comm. of Innovation, Comm. of Companies, Comm. of Committees. There might be a revision needed.
Workload
Initially this was said to be 1-2 hours a month, however is has shown to be more like 1-2 hours a week on average. This can vary quite heavily throughout the year depending on questions and if the policy should be updated.
Responsibilities
Year Planning
The SAF has identified a year planning with all tasks that need to be carried out yearly.
In 2023, the VSV first applied for the Sustainability label given out by the GreenTU. Sadly, they didn't get any label that year. In 2024, we applied again and got a bronze label! In 2025, we just received the silver label!dit moet nog verder uitgewerkt worden
Here you can find the preliminary sustainability policy (28/11/2023).
Policy
It can also be found on the website of the VSV:https://vsv.tudelft.nl/content/prelimiary-sustainability-policy-v2.
For committees with large (multiple day) events, there is often a lot of waste. In the sustainability policy it is stated in point 13 that every committee should keep track of all the food that is thrown away in the end.
Once the policy has been voted on, the table below will eventually contain all events where currently food is being wasted. Since at this moment (28/11/2023), there has not been an event yet where this is closely recorded, I made a small example for the Freshmen Weekend (EJW).
It is the responsibility of the committee to keep track of this and make an overview. It is the responsibility of the QQ to put it in the table.
